Our Mission
The Michigan District Export Council (MDEC) is an organization of leaders from across Michigan whose knowledge of international business provides a source of professional advice for local firms. Closely affiliated with the Commercial Service's Export Assistance Centers, the MDEC combines the energies of nearly 60 volunteers to supply specialized expertise to small and medium-sized businesses in their local community who are interested in exporting. MDEC creates seminars that make trade finance both understandable and accessible to small exporters, hosts international buyer delegations, designs breakthrough guides to help firms export, puts exporters on the Internet and helps build export assistance partnerships to strengthen the support given to local businesses interested in exporting. The goal of MDEC, as it is with all other Councils throughout the United States, is the furtherance of our nation's export efforts directed by the Trade Promotion Coordination Committee (TPCC). MDEC encourages and supports export expansion activities by Counciling local businesses, identifying export finance sources, building local export assistance partnerships with other organizations, and promoting international education at the community level.
